What To Expect On Your First Visit To Simply Massage

Initial Meeting

On your first visit to Simply Massage, we suggest that you arrive at least 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. Our receptionist will ask you to fill out a brief medical history and massage preferences form. This will allow us to tailor a massage session that is perfectly suited to your needs. You will be given choices, such as the level of pressure you would like and the areas of your body that you would like for us to focus on for that session.

Your Place Of Serenity

Your massage therapist will take you to one of our relaxing treatment rooms, where a warm cozy massage table with fresh clean linens awaits. After a brief consultation to discuss your goals for the session, your therapist will leave the room while you disrobe to your level of comfort. Some clients choose to disrobe completely, and others prefer to remain partially clothed.

Once disrobed you will lie under the top sheet on the massage table. Your therapist will give you a few minutes to relax and begin to allow the stresses of the world float away. They will then be sure you are ready before re-entering the treatment room.

Your massage therapist will provide a blanket for your comfort. If you are ever too warm or too cool, please be sure to let the therapist know. Your massage therapist will always respect your modesty by only uncovering the part of the body being worked at the time.

There will be soft relaxing music playing during your massage. The volume can be adjusted to suit your personal preference. Your comfort is our top priority at Simply Massage.

This Is Your Massage

Your session will begin with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, the pressure can gradually be increased. It is important to communicate with your therapist if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. If you feel that the therapist is using too much or too little pressure, please let them know. He or she will adjust the pressure accordingly.

If you have any preferences in regards to other aspects of your massage, such as style of massage given, music volume, temperature, etc. we want to know. Also, if there are any areas that you would like for the therapist to focus on during the session, please tell them those as well.

We use only top quality, professional grade, hypoallergenic massage gels and creams for your massage. You will leave with your skin feeling smooth and moisturized, but not greasy.

After Your Session

After your massage, your therapist will leave the room to allow for you to re-dress. We suggest taking a moment to lie still and gather yourself before getting off the table. We recommend sitting on the edge of the table for a minute before standing. Some clients can experience a feeling of lightheadedness after a massage. This will help with that feeling.

After your massage you will feel relaxed, and you may feel relief from long-term muscle aches and pains. This relaxation can last for days or weeks after your session. Some clients may also experience mild soreness, achy feeling, or headaches after a massage. This is perfectly normal. Your body stores metabolic waste products (primarily lactic acid) in your tissues. These waste products are the by-products of physical activity or prolonged muscle tension. Your massage therapist can work to flush those out of your muscles. We ask that you increase your water intake for at least 1-2 days after your massage to help flush this lactic acid out of your body. This will help to prevent or relieve any soreness that may develop.

Continuing Treatment

Many clients ask how often they should receive massage therapy. The short answer is, as often as you want. Obviously, the more often you receive massage, the better you will feel all of the time. That being said, if you have any injuries, or a good deal of muscle tension, we generally recommend receiving massage once every 1-2 weeks until the muscles have released the tension. Then, to maintain that relaxed state, we recommend receiving massage at least once a month. For most people 1-2 times per month is enough to maintain a state of muscular health and relaxation. We have made is easy and affordable to treat yourself to regular massage therapy sessions. With our Preferred Membership Program, you can receive one 60 minute massage per month for only $49. And, additional 60 minute massages are still only $49 each. Click here for more information.
